MEET OUR THERAPISTS

Dr. Laytrayal Simmons

Dr. Simmons is a licensed psychologist and professional counselor with over 15 years of experience in providing therapy to individuals and families. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 2012 from Howard University. She previously earned her Master’s Degree in 2002 from Georgia State University in Professional Counseling.

My practice focuses on adolescents and adults of all ages. I conceptualize issues from a cognitive-behavioral approach, meaning that I will explore together with you the thoughts and feelings related to your behavior patterns and examine the impact of any biological, psychological, and social factors. We will work together to make manageable changes so that you can feel better and move forward to reach your goals. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to problems, and a reduction in anxiety and stress.

Benjamin Bazzi

Benjamin, a Michigan native, attended Wayne State University, majoring in psychology, and is currently pursuing his doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Howard University. Benjamin has worked extensively with children, adolescents and their families in order to improve behaviors and relationships at school and in the home. Benjamin has experience working with a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress.

My diverse career and training have increased my commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment in which you can express the unique aspects of yourself. My objective is to assist you in identifying and clarifying your goals to help reduce the stressors you may be experiencing in your life. Through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, I help facilitate and support your personal growth and development.

Simone S. Morgan

Simone is a nationally certified and licensed graduate professional counselor. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from Trinity Washington University – Washington DC. Simone has over 15 years of experience providing counseling services. She is certified in Multi-System Therapy (MST) and has extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

“It is my mission to support my clients in accepting what cannot be changed and assisting them in building the skills to change what is within their control. I believe in the importance of validation and the significance of meeting a client where he or she is in their treatment. I also incorporate mindfulness in sessions as taught in DBT and I strongly believe in creating a non-judgmental and safe space for my clients. Moreover, I incorporate MST in sessions as behaviors have drivers and being able to systematically break down what is driving a behavior is a great starting point for self-awareness and change.”

Tim van den Broek

Tim van den Broek holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, one of the top ranked universities globally in the field. He is fluent in both English and Dutch. After obtaining his degree he worked in a private clinic providing family counseling and coaching to clients of all age groups. He has many years of experience with individual, group and couples counseling to clients suffering from ADHD, OCD, trauma, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and relationship issues.

My main goal as a counselor is to provide you with the emotional support you need while helping you regain full self-reliance. I will devote time and energy in understanding you in the context of your relationships, your character and the psychological distress you are experiencing. Through a transparent and collaborative approach, I will help you set treatment goals, take the first steps toward change and work towards establishing a long-term improvement of your quality of life.

Natasha Hall-Thompson

Natasha Hall-Thompson has acquired a wealth of knowledge working with evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Strengthening Families Parenting Programs. I also have experience working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, attachment, and children who are products of either separation or divorced due to abuse, domestic violence or neglect.  I possess effective counseling skills which enable me to provide successful service delivery to individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.

I believe every individual has the potential to grow, learn and can benefit from the process of self-reflection and examination. While therapy and the process of change can be difficult at times, the benefits are most often worth the effort in the long run and can lead to a fuller and happier life. I can provide you with support, while teaching coping mechanisms to create a healthy balance in your life. I apply a systemic approach when working with couples, families and individuals from childhood, adolescence, and adults, to help you achieve optimal success.

Jess Raasch

Jess is currently pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology – Northern Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has several years of experience with individuals, group, and couples counseling. Her experience includes running substance abuse process groups, teaching educational classes for driving under the influence, individual counseling for drug therapy, and intensive in-home services for adolescents.

My belief is that therapy must be a collaborative effort where I take the time to learn your emotional needs and where you are receptive to my guidance. Together we can work toward promoting positive life change by creating behavioral patterns that lead to your needs being met. I utilize a multi-faceted approach to therapy (both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches) which allows for exploration of interpersonal relationships, processing of thoughts, and evaluation of behavior. This joint approach encourages self-reflection while allowing for personal growth by helping you engage in proactive behaviors.
